Source Water Protection Plan Update Slated for Tuesday

Kendra Hatcher of Downstream Strategies will update City officials on Wheeling’s Source Water Protection Plan during the Public Works Committee meeting, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Council Chambers. The primary purpose of the Source Water Protection Plan is to minimize the potential for contamination of the local water supply. The plan also outlines actions to be taken in the event of a contamination incident, with the goal of minimizing its impact on those served by the municipal water system. The Source Water Protection Plan is required by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection and is updated every three years.
