Following requests from residents eager to return to the dog park with their pets, the City of Wheeling will reopen the Fitzsimmons Family Dog Park at Garden Park in Warwood on Monday, March 9.

The early opening allows pet owners to enjoy the popular amenity while the surface of the East Wheeling facility continues to rehabilitate in preparation for spring. The Fitzsimmons Family Dog Park at Tunnel Green will remain closed at this time. Pet owners planning to visit the Warwood facility should note that water service will not yet be available, so visitors are encouraged to bring water for their dogs.

City officials also remind visitors that helping maintain the dog park is a shared responsibility. Dog owners are asked to be responsible pet parents by cleaning up after their pets and properly disposing of waste. The City of Wheeling will provide pet waste bags for visitors. After use, the bags should be placed in a nearby trash receptacle to help keep the park clean and enjoyable for everyone.
