Contractors were in the process of demolishing the bridge, which had been closed since early December, when the incident occurred. Three workers were on the bridge at the time of the collapse and fell into the waterway. Two sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while a third suffered a serious injury. All were conscious and transported to Wheeling Hospital for medical evaluation. Emergency crews cleared the scene by approximately 3 p.m. and turned the area back over to the contractor.
