Two people are facing charges following a traffic stop in the Warwood neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m., a Wheeling Police officer conducted a traffic stop near Warwood Avenue and North 11th Street. As the officer approached the vehicle, one of the passengers fled on foot. Officers searched the area and located the suspect a short time later on Viking Drive.
During a search of the suspect, the surrounding area, and the vehicle, police found illegal drugs, including a large amount of methamphetamine.
Arrested were Alphonso Curtis Campbell, 22, of Columbus, Ohio, and Kewai Tyrone Hunter, 24, also of Columbus.
Campbell, a passenger, is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Hunter is charged with being a fugitive from justice and destruction of property.
Both were taken to the Northern Regional Jail.
Given the circumstances and out of an abundance of caution, WPD recommended that schools in the area lock down.
