The Wheeling Fire Department is continuing its annual fire hydrant inspections. This proactive effort ensures that hydrants and water lines are functioning properly and free of leaks. Over the next week, inspection crews will begin work in the Downtown, East Wheeling, South Wheeling, and Wheeling Island areas.

Inspections take place Monday through Thursday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. No testing will occur on Friday or weekends.

During this process, residents may notice discolored water due to sediment being stirred up in the lines. If this occurs, it is recommended to run cold water until it clears before use.

The Fire Department appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation during these routine inspections. Further updates will be provided as crews move into additional neighborhoods.
