Free Movie Night Featuring “Wicked” Slated for Friday

Join the City of Wheeling for a magical evening under the stars with a showing of Wicked on Friday, July 18 at Heritage Port. The movie will begin at dusk.

Moviegoers can look forward to a magical journey through the Land of Oz in Wicked, the cinematic adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. Long before Dorothy dropped in, two young women—Elphaba, who is smart, misunderstood, and green-skinned, and Glinda, the popular and ambitious one—meet at school and form an unlikely friendship. Their story unfolds into a powerful tale of loyalty, courage, and what it truly means to be "wicked." The movie, starring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum and Kristin Chenoweth, is rated PG.

As an added treat, free popcorn will be available while supplies last. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to get comfortable and enjoy the show under the stars.

“This is a great opportunity for friends and families to come together and enjoy a fun and free evening in one of the most scenic spots in Wheeling,” said Parks & Recreation Director Rochelle Barry. “We’re proud to offer events like this that bring the community together.”

Admission is free. Don’t miss this chance to experience a night of movie magic in downtown Wheeling!

No smoking is permitted by orders of the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Board. No pets are permitted in the seating area. All programs are subject to change without notice. In case of inclement weather, events may be relocated, rescheduled or cancelled.
