June 18 Flood Response Information

REPORT DAMAGE
 Emergency officials are strongly urging homeowners and businesses to report Flood Damage to the WV Emergency Management Division at emd.wv.gov/disastersurvey
 
 SEARCH AND RECOVERY EFFORTS
 Search and Recovery efforts resumed at 8:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, June 18), in the Elm Grove, Triadelphia, and Valley Grove areas by various fire departments and law enforcement agencies. Crews will be assessing homes, Little Wheeling Creek and Big Wheeling Creek. Roughly 50 vehicles have been removed from the waterways, with more still needing to be removed.

CASUALTIES / MISSING PERSONS REPORT
 As of Wednesday morning, eight fatalities have been confirmed. Seven of the deceased have been identified. If anyone knows someone believed to be missing, please call the Emergency Operations Center at 304-234-3695.
 
FLOOD SUPPLIES & DISTRIBUTION AREAS
 From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., (hours could vary for rain, etc.), those impacted by flooding can pick up various supplies – water, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, paper products, clothes, animal food, etc. – at various locations. If people need assistance getting supplies delivered, please call 304-234-7109.

NATURAL GAS ISSUES
 If anyone has a concern related to the smell of natural gas, residents and business owners are asked to call the Mountaineer Gas emergency line at 800-834-2070.

TETANUS & HEPATITIS A SHOTS
 Tetanus and Hepatitis A shots will be administered by the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department.  No registration is needed. The health department can be reached at 304-234-3682.

 POWER RESTORATION
 Appalachian Power is working to restore power to the Triadelphia/Valley Grove area. Several utility poles were damaged, as well as a substation. Information on the restoration efforts can be found at AppalachianPower.com.
 
 DUMPING DISCARDED ITEMS
 Residents and businesses are being asked to leave flood-related items at the curbside for crews to remove debris. Only people affected by the flooding are permitted to take items to dump at the Highlands between Cabela’s and Hobby Lobby. This is not open to the general public and ONLY to those impacted by flooding. Hours are 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
