Police Investigating Two Separate Sunday Evening Incidents

The Wheeling Police Department is investigating two unrelated incidents that occurred Sunday evening.

Police were called to Wheeling Hospital just after 6 p.m. for a man who self-reported to the Emergency Room for a gunshot wound. The victim alleges that he was struck in the head and then shot in the shoulder area. Officers investigating the incident were unable to verify the location of the incident and some information provided by the victim. The man was treated for his injury and is expected to recover.

In an unrelated incident, police responded to a stabbing that allegedly happened on Lane 13 in East Wheeling around 6:55 p.m. The male victim stated that a person jumped out of an abandoned house and stabbed him. He described the suspect as a white male who fled the scene on a bicycle towards US 250. The victim was taken to Wheeling Hospital for medical treatment by fire department personnel. Detectives worked to gather evidence and interview individuals in the area and are currently unable to verify the exact location of the crime.
