The Wheeling Police Department is investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in two fatalities early Thursday evening in downtown.

Wheeling Police and Fire personnel were called to the intersection of 16th and Main Streets around 6:20 p.m. for a report of a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole near the Main Street Bridge. The driver and passenger of in the vehicle were pronounced dead on scene.

The victims names are not being released at time as police continue their investigation.
