The Recreation Department has established a tradition of offering camps in different sports at an extremely reasonable price. There are many outstanding camps that cost $150 to $250 for the week. Our goal is to offer the same camp experience to every boy and girl at an affordable price. A brief explanation for each camp follows. Baseball Camp
JULY 10-13, 2012

CHAMBERS I-470 BALLFIELDS

Play baseball with us this summer. Camp will be held July 10-13, 2012. Children ages 5-12 can get tips and instruction in the fine art of running, hitting, sliding and pitching from some of the area’s finest coaches at the Chambers I-470 Complex. Camp director will be Tom Pasco, Wheeling Legion Post #1 Coach. Registration fee is $30 before July 6, 2012. Registration at the door is $40. Campers receive a t-shirt and daily refreshment.


Fast-Pitch Softball Camp
JULY 10-13, 2012
9 A.M. TO NOON - AGES 5-12
1 P.M. TO 4 P.M. - AGES 13-18
CHAMBERS I-470 BALLFIELDS

The Wheeling Recreation Department will sponsor a Fast Pitch Softball Camp from July 10 through July 13 at the Chambers I-470 Complex. Camp will be for girls ages 5-18. Morning session will run from 9 a.m.-noon and will be for girls ages 5-12. Afternoon session will run from 1-4 p.m. and will be for girls ages 13-18. This camp will have an outstanding staff featuring Herb Minch of West Liberty University, and players from West Liberty. Campers will get instruction on hitting using up-to-date instructional hitting aids. Emphasis will be given in fundamentals of fielding, base running and fast pitch pitching. Registration fee will be $30 before July 6 Registration at the door will
be $40. Campers will also receive a t-shirt and daily refreshment.


Cheerleading Camp

Chambers I-470 Ballfields will be the site of the 19th Annual Cheerleading Camp for ages 5-10. Camp hours will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Our camp is designed to teach the FUNdamentals of cheering. The clinic will be held on Tuesday, July 10 through Friday, July 13. Registration will be $30, which includes a t-shirt and daily refreshments. Registration after July 6 will be $40.


Basketball Camps
BOYS GRADES 4-8: July 24-27, 2012, 9 A.M. to NOON
GIRLS GRADES 4-8: July 31-August 3, 2012, 9 A.M. to NOON
BOYS & GIRLS GRADES 1-3: July 31-August 3, 2012, 1-3:00 P.M.
HOWARD LONG WELLNESS CENTER

The Wheeling Recreation Basketball Camp enters its 35th season and is recognized as one of the finest camps in the Tri-State area. Ask any of the nearly 13,000 boys and girls who have attended since our inception in 1978.
There will be three sessions this year at the Howard Long Wellness Center. The boys camp, grades 4-8, will be held from 9:00 a.m.to Noon on July 24-27. The girls camp, grades 4-8, will run will run from 9:00 a.m. to Noon on July 31 to August 3. A camp for boys and girls grades 1-3 will also be held on July 31 to August 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be two full court games and contests in each grade level. Instructions in rebounding and defense, body balance and pivoting, passing and catching, ball handling and dribbling, shooting and foul shooting.

We encourage everyone to register by July 20, 2012. Pre-registration is $30 and includes a t-shirt and daily refreshment. Registration after July 20, 2012 will be $40.
