Later Alligator ranks as top 101 Unique Places to Eat in WV!

SUTTON, W.Va.  -- It’s the best of the best when it comes to unique eateries in West Virginia.

"This isn’t a list of fancy, smancy restaurants," Allen Arnold, Director of the Collaborative for 21st Century Appalachia said.

It’s definitely not. What it is, however, is 101 of the most unique places to dine in the state. It was voted on by the public through an online website.

The hope is this list will get folks in the state, and visitors from other places to see what great food and chefs we have in West Virginia.

"There’s a lot of great artists here in wv, and were all a little quarky," Gary Needham, Executive Chef at the Bluegrass Kitchen in Charleston said. "But you have to come out and meet us because we have great food and there’s a lot going on."

"I hope people realize you don’t have to eat at a chain," Melody Urbanic, co-owner of Cafe Cimeno Country Inn, said. "You can eat at a family-owned, chef operated restaurant. You’re supporting the local economy that way and you’re working with people who have put their heart and soul into their business, and that’s West Virginia."

The West Virginia Division of Tourism and the Collaborative for the 21st Century Appalachia partnered to identify some of the best “can’t miss” eateries across the state. These selections are the “people’s choice” and are only a sampling of what West Virginia has to offer.

Atmosphere and great food can be found at Wheeling’s Later Alligator. This former saloon is located in city’s Centre Market Historic District, and specializes in crepes, sandwiches and homemade soups. You’ll keep coming back for more.
