Department Organization & Equipment

With the Fire Chief at the head of the department, the majority of the fire personnel are deployed among the seven fire stations throughout the City utilizing the platoon system. In addition to the platoons, the department has the Investigation Division, Training Division, Bureau of Fire Prevention and Maintenance Division.

Stations & Equipment

Station 2
801 Main Street. The response district is the entire City and it houses the following equipment: Rescue 1 (Rescue Truck), Squad 1 (Ambulance), Squad 3 (reserve vehicle), and Resource Vehicle.

Station 4
3618 Jacob Street. The response district is South Wheeling area from 27th Street south to the corporate limits. The station houses the following: Engine 4 (1500 GPM Sutphen Pumper), Truck 14 (Light & Generator) and an aluminum Johnboat.

Station 5
128 Zane Street. The response district is Wheeling Island and Main Street from 9th to 12th Street. Engine 5 (1500 GPM Stuphen Pumper), an aluminum Johnboat, and an aluminum Starcraft are stationed at this location.

2126 Market Street. The response district includes North Wheeling, East Wheeling, Central Business District and Center Wheeling to 27th Street. Headquarters houses Engine 2 (1750 GPM Sutphen Pumper), Ladder 1 (90? tower ladder), and two Field Communications Vehicles.

Station 9
N. 13th Street and Richland Avenue. The response district is the Warwood Neighborhood and it houses the following: Engine 9 (1500 GPM LaFrance Pumper) and Engine 3 (reserve 1500 GPM Sutphen Pumper).

Station 10
298 Poplar Avenue. The response district includes Edgewood Neighborhood from the foot of Wheeling Hill and east to Wheeling Park. Engine 10

Station 11
139 East Bethlehem Blvd. Constructed in 1969. Response district includes Elm Grove, east from Wheeling Park. Engine 11
